Harry Kane Injured, Man United Wonderkid Immediately Called Up by England National Team!

Gilabola.com – When Harry Kane had to be absent from training due to an ankle injury, a golden opportunity came for Shea Lacey—Manchester United’s young star. This 18 year old teenager was called to train with the England main squad to replace the absence of the national team captain.

Kane Injury Opens Door for Young Star

Kane suffered a minor injury while helping Bayern Munich win 3–0 over Eintracht Frankfurt. Although he assured that he would “be fine” for national team duty, the striker chose to train in the gym on Wednesday rather than join the pitch.

England manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Kane will miss the test match against Wales, but is optimistic that the captain will be ready to appear for the World Cup qualifier against Latvia on October 14.

In Kane’s absence, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins is the main candidate to replace him, while Marcus Rashford—who is currently on loan from Barcelona—is also likely to play as a center forward.

Shea Lacey: From Academy to Senior Team Training

Tuchel then filled the void on the front line by calling Shea Lacey from the U-20 squad to train with the senior team. Lacey, an attacking midfielder, has scored two goals this season in three appearances for United’s U-23 team. He is highly regarded at Old Trafford, even though he is still waiting for his official debut with the first team.

This young player had previously attracted the attention of coach Ruben Amorim in several training sessions. Lacey’s journey wasn’t always smooth—injuries hampered her, and it wasn’t until October 2023 that she returned to playing a full 90 minutes for the first time.

It wasn’t just Lacey who was called

Apart from Lacey, Tuchel also added two other young players for Wednesday’s training session. 19-year-old centre-back Harrison Murray-Campbell from Chelsea was also called up. Likewise Lakyle Samuel, Manchester City’s 19-year-old right-back who is currently on loan at Bromley in League Two.

They all gained valuable experience training with senior players, especially in the midst of a squad that is currently short of forward players.
