Juventus ready to beat the Blues to attract Mike Maignan from San Siro
Gilabola.com – Juventus are eyeing a free transfer for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, after Chelsea also attempted to bring in the French international.
Revealed La Gazzetta dello SportJuventus intends to recruit Maignan who will be available on a free transfer in June 2026.
Bianconeri Director, Damien Comolli, admitted that he was determined to bring in the 30 year old player ahead of the start of next season.
Milan are secretly looking for a replacement for Maignan
Moreover, even though Maignan’s contract with Milan will be completed at the end of this season, negotiations between the two parties have been stalled for months.
Now, reportedly, Milan is planning to make a final effort to keep the former Lille goalkeeper, although they are wary of Maignan’s decision and are secretly looking for a potential new goalkeeper.
It is not surprising that the 2025-2026 season is said to be Maignan’s last year at the San Siro. Moreover, Maignan was on Milan’s selling list in the transfer market last summer, because Milan had to balance the team’s finances.
However, at that time coach Massimiliano Allegri asked the club to keep Maignan, because of his important role in goal for the Rossoneri.
Tight competition with Chelsea
Juventus will also face tough competition with the English giant, Chelsea, who had negotiations with Maignan last summer.
At that time, even though Maignan really wanted to move to Stamford Bridge, the Blues failed to meet the Rossoneri’s asking price, and only offered 15 million Euros.
At Milan, Maignan earned a salary of 2.8 million Euros per season, and benefited from tax cuts stipulated in the Development Regulations.
Chelsea Still Interested in Maignan
Still obeying La Gazzetta dello SportUntil now, Chelsea is still interested in Maignan. Bayern Munich also did the same thing, and now Juventus also wants to recruit him.
For this reason, it is certain that the Old Lady will face tough competition to recruit the goalkeeper who graduated from the PSG academy.
The media added that Juve’s current main goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio, has many admirers in the Premier League. So, it shouldn’t be a problem for the Italian player to look for a new club, if Maignan really moves to the Allianz Stadium.
