AC Milan begins to have doubts about Nkunku’s role, Tomori continues to chase his World Cup dream

Gilabola.com – AC Milan began to question Christopher Nkunku’s role just months after his expensive transfer, but the possibility of leaving in January is considered remote due to the risk of financial loss.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Fikayo Tomori has again found his best performance with Massimiliano Allegri and continues to maintain his chances of appearing in the World Cup with England.

The doubts about Nkunku are not entirely related to individual qualities, but rather to the tasks given to him on the field which are considered not in harmony with his natural playing character.

Milan brought in Nkunku in the summer for around 42 million euros including bonuses, a huge investment that was expected from the start to have an instant impact on the attacking sector.

However, Nkunku’s use as a center forward raises question marks because this role is not the main position he has usually played throughout his career.

Nkunku is known as a flexible attacking player, but not a classic striker who lives in the penalty box and focuses on physical duels with opposing defenders. In several matches, he tried to adapt to the team’s tactical needs, even though this made his contribution seem less than optimal.

This situation gave rise to internal debate regarding whether the transfer planning from the start had considered the best role for Nkunku in Milan’s playing system.

In theory, selling Nkunku in January could be an option if Milan is able to cover most of the transfer costs already incurred. The problem is, selling expensive players just a few months after signing has the potential to cause significant financial losses for the club.

These conditions make Milan’s room for movement in the winter transfer market very limited, unless a buyer appears with an offer that truly meets the club’s expectations.

Without that scenario, it will be difficult for Milan to make major changes up front, including paving the way for other options that have been linked such as Gabriel Jesus, despite the presence of Niclas Füllkrug.

Tomori Gets Up and Focuses on the Big Target

In contrast to Nkunku’s situation, Fikayo Tomori is actually experiencing a revival after going through several unstable seasons at the San Siro. The English defender has again become the main choice in the heart of defense since Massimiliano Allegri took over as Milan coach.

This consistency in playing has made Tomori even more confident to compete again for a place in the England squad ahead of the World Cup.

Tomori believes that the ambition to appear in the World Cup is still very realistic, especially with the team’s improving performance and the opportunity to win a domestic title.

He also understands that competition in England’s back line is very tight, with many names appearing regularly at the highest level. Even so, Tomori feels he is still being watched by the England coach, Thomas Tuchel, who regularly monitors Milan’s performance.

Communication between Tuchel and Tomori continues, with the main message being for him to maintain the current level of play with the Rossoneri.

Tomori sees the fact that several other Milan players received calls to the national team as a positive signal that their performance at the Italian club remains on the radar of the English national team.

Our opinion:

In our opinion, Milan’s doubts about Nkunku’s role reflect more tactical planning errors than player failure, while Tomori’s emergence shows how important system fit and coach confidence are in maximizing a player’s potential.
