Bhayangkara Adds Ammunition, Ryo Matsumura Borrowed from Persija

Ryo Matsumura officially strengthened Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung for the remainder of the competition BRI Super League 2025/2026. The wing midfielder from Japan was brought in from Persija Jakarta on loan to increase the team’s attacking power in the second round of this season.

The certainty of Matsumura’s joining was announced via the official Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung Instagram account. In the upload, he appears wearing a team uniform at the PKOR Youth Pledge Stadium, Bandarlampung. His presence is part of Bhayangkara’s steps to make improvements after undergoing a first round that was not completely consistent.

Additional Energy in the Midfield

Matsumura will work again with Sho Yamamoto, a fellow Japanese player who first joined in the second round after being brought in from Persis Solo. Apart from that, he will also meet again with Alan Cardoso, a left back who is both on loan from Persija.

Persija’s decision to release Matsumura and Alan Cardoso was influenced by the full quota of foreign players in the capital’s team. This situation opens up an opportunity for Bhayangkara to utilize his second experience for the remainder of the season.

The 31 year old player is known to have a long career experience in Thailand. He is expected to be able to improve the quality of Bhayangkara’s midfield, especially in terms of ball distribution to the front line, which in the first round was deemed not to have worked optimally.

However, in the near future Matsumura still has homework to restore his physical condition. He was sidelined for quite a long time due to a hamstring injury, so adaptation and fitness became the initial focus before returning to optimal performance.

Second Round Sixth Draft

Matsumura became the sixth player brought in by Bhayangkara in the second round. Previously, the club had already recruited Moussa Sidibe, Privat Mbarga, Bernard Henry Cedric Doumbia, Alan Cardoso and Sho Yamamoto.

This active step in the transfer market cannot be separated from Bhayangkara’s position in the standings. Until now, Paul Munster’s team is in 10th place with a record of seven wins, five draws and eight defeats.

In the last match, Bhayangkara had to admit Borneo FC’s superiority with a score of 1-2 in the match which was held on Saturday 7 February. These results are an important evaluation ahead of the next match.

Bhayangkara is scheduled to play the 21st week by visiting the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Sidoarjo, to face Persebaya Surabaya on Saturday 14 February. It is hoped that Matsumura’s presence will provide a new color as the team tries to improve its position in the standings.
