Royal Things to Do in London: An Insider’s Guide to Palaces, Castles and Pitfalls

When you’re trying to coordinate the best royal things to do in London, are you making a big mistake before you even get on the plane?

During a 1:1 London travel consultation, a client told me that he had booked a hotel room in Windsor, assuming it would be within easy walking distance of many of London’s other attractions.

Not only was he unaware that Windsor was an entirely separate city outside of London, but he was also booked for Monday night. He was completely unaware that the castle was closed to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!

If you’re feeling the same stress and confusion right now before a holiday, using one of my London itineraries is the easiest way to avoid a major booking disaster.

As an American in London who has spent more than a decade exploring the city with my London-born husband, I have visited every major royal site several times.

I’ve spent years digesting these confusing rules, and believe me, I’ve made my own mistakes.

On one memorable visit with my own mother during the busy April term, I waited until a few days before our trip to purchase tickets to Windsor Castle. We were only able to get an afternoon slot, which meant we weren’t even allowed into the castle grounds until late at night.

When we went inside, the line headed for St. Mary’s Chapel. George was full and closed for the day. (And don’t forget, this place is never open to visitors on Sundays!)

If you want to avoid heartbreak like this and find the best places to see in London, you need a strategy.

Here, I’ll share the most iconic royal places to visit in London so you can plan your London trip with confidence.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
