Two Bartees Barteghi Put Still! Laurint’s Definite Air Hope at San Siro
Gilabola.com – AC Milan had to settle for sharing the points after being held by Sassuolo with a score of 2-2 in the Serie A match which was held at the San Siro, Sunday. Davide Bartesaghi’s two historic goals which had given the Rossoneri the lead failed to result in victory, after Ismael Koné and Armand Laurienté performed decisively for the visitors.
Bartesaghi Shines, Milan Initially Takes Control
Milan started the match with favorite status, even though Sassuolo came without their main star, Domenico Berardi. The visitors opted for a pragmatic approach with a defensive 4-3-3 formation, while Armand Laurienté started the match on the bench.
However, it was Sassuolo who broke the deadlock first. Ismael Koné took advantage of Milan’s fatal mistake when taking a throw-in in his own area. Andrea Pinamonti cleverly played a short pass, before Koné cut into space and beat Matteo Gabbia, then ended the chance with an outside-footed strike that Mike Maignan couldn’t block.
Milan responded by increasing the pressure. Adrien Rabiot almost equalized after winning the ball on the edge of the Sassuolo penalty box, but Arijanet Muric performed brilliantly with his quick reflexes.
The equalizer finally came in the 33rd minute. Davide Bartesaghi scored his first goal in Serie A with a move to the far post, meeting Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s hard pass from the right, and finishing clinically with his left foot.
Bartesaghi’s Two Goals, Hope That Almost Became Victory
The start of the second half became Bartesaghi’s main stage. Just one minute into the game, the young left back scored another goal. This time, Christopher Nkunku read Bartesaghi’s movement perfectly and sent a coolly finished through ball to the near post.
Milan were in an ideal position to secure the three points, but the situation began to change when Matteo Gabbia suffered a knee injury and had to be withdrawn around the 60th minute. Since then, the stability of the Rossoneri back line has begun to falter.
Sassuolo almost equalized the score through Kristian Thorstvedt, but Maignan performed heroicly with a close-range save. On the other hand, Milan celebrated two additional goals which were later disallowed. Christian Pulisic’s goal from a corner was disallowed due to Loftus-Cheek’s foul, while Rabiot’s other goal was disallowed due to an offside position.
Laurienté Changes the Direction of the Match
Significant changes occurred when Sassuolo brought in Armand Laurienté and Josh Doig. The visitors’ pressure increased drastically, forcing Milan to defend deeper.
The results are clear. Laurienté scored the equalizer in an identical pattern to Sassuolo’s first goal. Pinamonti again acted as a rebound, before Laurienté ran through the defense and finished off the attack at the far post.
The French player almost became the hero of Sassuolo’s victory. He had two additional golden opportunities, but one shot from close range was off the mark, and his long-range shot only hit the goal post.
Our View
This draw confirmed the two faces of Milan. On the one hand, the emergence of Bartesaghi as a two-goal scorer shows great potential and the team’s courage to make room for young players.
However, on the other hand, Milan again had problems managing their lead, especially when the pressure increased and the composition of the back line was disrupted.
Sassuolo deserve to be appreciated for their mentality and courage, while Milan need to quickly find consistency if they want to maintain momentum at the top.
