Best Pubs in Chelsea- King’s Road Pub Crawl London

If you’re a Londoner, you’ll probably immediately mention ‘click bait’ when browsing the pubs of King’s Road. While there are plenty of pubs in Chelsea, there are virtually no pubs on the King’s Road. This street is actually known as one of the most popular streets for shopping in London.

But the pubs in Chelsea are very impressive. I know this because I put my London-born husband (a self-proclaimed pub expert) in charge of the King’s Road Pub Crawl. And- he certainly didn’t disappoint!

If you’re new to Sunny in London, or need Tips for Visiting London Pubs, this is something we often write about and include as social media videos.

Initially this was not too much of a challenge for him because he spent part of his childhood living in Chelsea. He and his family have several local favorites he likes to visit. However, some of them have not stood the test of time. And some have changed over time into different experiences.

Nonetheless, Mr Sunny put together a list of pubs that will impress anyone visiting London as well as having local knowledge of pubs in Chelsea.

King’s Road Pub Crawl

Chelsea Potter is one of the few pubs on the King’s Road. If you’re an email subscriber to the Sunny News, you know that Mr Sunny recommends the best pubs of the week.

Around the Corner

lime-free home

This is probably one of the newest pubs in Chelsea and it’s a delight! Mr Sunny and I had a fantastic lunch here. And it’s no surprise that the food is delicious as this is Tom Kerridge’s pub. There’s a YouTube highlights video at the end of this article so you can see just how wonderful the food and experience is at this Chelsea pub.

Location: 27 Tryon St, London SW3 3LG

What Mr Sunny likes: The pork schnitzel is perfectly cooked and the atmosphere is classy and smart. This pub is perfect for a long lunch, a group of people you want to impress, or just a fun day out in London.

Cross Key

Mr. Sunny really wanted to suggest The Cross Keys. This pub differs from the ‘classic old boozer’ pub in Covent Garden on Endell Street with its iconic flower front. Cross Keys in Chelsea is hidden and located on a residential street. In fact, here’s a description of many of our picks in the Best Pubs in Chelsea Pub Crawl.

Location: 1 Lawrence St, London SW3 5NB

What Mr Sunny likes: It’s located near King’s Road and Embankment, so it’s a nice escape when the ‘Madam is out shopping’. This pub is passionate about British produce and the menu reflects this. They also emphasize the ‘field to fork’ philosophy. Seems to be frequented by mostly locals. That’s always a good sign. Another good sign is the list of celebrities drinking at The Cross Keys.

Fen

This is Young’s Pub and is currently being renovated. Mr Sunny feels this is still a local pub but definitely more of a gastropub.

Location: 9 Phene Street, Chelsea, SW3 5NY

What does Mr Sunny like?: The beer garden is great and Sunday lunch looks delicious. The day we stopped by before it closed for repairs, the place was packed. So make sure when they reopen you take this into account and book in advance so you aren’t disappointed.

Cooper’s arm

When we visited, the pub did a good job of blending contemporary and traditional design. It will reopen in mid-February 2026. We will update this article with new photos when they are ready.

What Mr Sunny likes: The food at Young’s pub is always top of our list for people visiting London. So, we hope to visit again when the pub reopens.

Shock

This is at the top of Mr Sunny’s list because this is where his father and mother lived when he was little. He remembers when locals clearly had one side of The Surprise pub and the other reserved for the public.

Location: 6 Christchurch Terrace, Chelsea SW3 4AJ

What Mr Sunny likes: He said he was a little disappointed because over the years there have been big changes to the gastropub. However, since this is Young’s Pub, we know the menu and food are top notch.

That Phoenix

Mr Sunny feels this pub near King’s Road is more like a traditional London pub. According to him they offer good beers, good ales and light beers. Currently, Sunday nights are their Pub Quiz night.

Location: 23 Smith Street, Chelsea SW3 4EE

What Mr Sunny likes: While we note the above-mentioned advantages, this pub also represents Mr Sunny’s nostalgia. He wanted to know if anyone remembered the curry house that used to be next to this pub. It was one of his family’s favorites. His parents would enjoy a drink in the pub and the curry house owner would signal to them when the takeaway was ready.

Antelope

Of all the pubs at the Chelsea Pub Crawl he suggested, this was Mr Sunny’s favourite.

Location: Eaton Terrace, Belgravia SW11W 8EZ

What Mr Sunny likes: We know it’s a little fancier than Chelsea, but it’s definitely worth a visit. As a traditional Fuller’s pub, The Antelope has London Pride. This has always been Mr. Sunny’s father’s daily beer choice.

He loved seeing the nice horseshoe shaped bar and loved seeing the bar full of locals watching live sports when we were there.

Pubs in Chelsea: Out of Reach

You can also have a drink at The Botanist. Even though it suits me, Mr Sunny doesn’t enjoy drinking here because it’s quite luxurious. Londoners won’t be surprised to hear Mr. Sunny say the place is full of ‘Sloane Rangers.’

Location: 7 Sloane Square, London SW1W 8EE

What Mr Sunny likes: ‘It’s a great place to use as a toilet before leaving Chelsea.’ What can I say???
