Despite a bad start to the season, Liverpool is predicted to still finish above the Red Devils

Gilabola.com – John Arne Riise stated that he thinks there is no doubt Liverpool will end the season above Manchester United, even though Arne Slot’s team is in a difficult period.

He believes that the quality of the squad, the manager’s track record and recent improvements in performance are enough reasons that Liverpool will overtake Manchester United in the final standings.

Liverpool come into this season with the status of defending champions after last season being ten points ahead of their closest competitors. The club also spent around IDR 10 trillion to strengthen the team with big names such as Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez.

However, the reality did not match expectations. Liverpool are actually in 10th position after only winning less than half of their league games. They are even ten points behind Arsenal who lead the standings.

Despite this, Liverpool is starting to show signs of recovery. They are unbeaten in their last four matches, including a 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League match at the San Siro.

Liverpool is currently four levels below Manchester United. However, Riise emphasized that he thinks Liverpool will end the season in a higher position.

Manchester United itself is still experiencing inconsistency. Even so, the performance under Ruben Amorim shows progress from a team that only finished in 15th position last season.

Manchester United have just recorded a big 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. This result leaves them only one point away from the Champions League zone.

In an interview with Italian Foot, Riise expressed his belief that Liverpool will finish above Manchester United. He also said that, as a former Liverpool player, he still wants Manchester United to be at the top.

He thinks the league will be more interesting when Manchester United is in top competition. However, according to him, the team still cannot be better than Liverpool.

Riise explained that when he was still actively playing, he always hoped that Manchester United would lose every match. After retiring, he still wants Liverpool to win when the two clubs meet.

He revealed that many of his friends are Manchester United supporters. When Manchester United won, they often messaged him, but he never replied when Liverpool won.

Riise added that the league needs a strong Manchester United, but still cannot surpass Liverpool in terms of achievements. According to him, the competition between these two big clubs maintains the attractiveness of the Premier League.

Liverpool will continue the competition by facing Brighton at the weekend. Meanwhile, Manchester United is scheduled to host Bournemouth on Monday night.

We think Riise’s conviction shows how club identity and historical rivalries influence the views of former players. Liverpool’s performance is not yet stable, but the quality of their squad indicates a big opportunity to recover. Manchester United look to be improving, but consistency and lack of squad depth remain major problems.
