Guglielmo Vicario Admits Tottenham Didn’t Fight and Apologizes to Supporters

Gilabola.com – Tottenham faced internal criticism after the 4-1 defeat to Arsenal, when Guglielmo Vicario apologized and said his team did not show any resistance, while a big match against Paris Saint-Germain awaited.

The defeat also made Thomas Frank’s team further away from the top flight, and their winless streak in the league was once again in the spotlight.

The defeat at the Emirates Stadium increased the gap of six points between Arsenal and their pursuers at the top of the standings. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring before Ebere Eze scored a hat-trick, while Tottenham only responded through Richarlison.

These results put Tottenham in ninth place in the standings. They have only collected five wins, three draws and four defeats this season.

Vicario then explained that the match was a tough night for his team. He assessed that the players did not carry out the demands of the match well.

He said that the supporters deserved an apology. He feels that the support given every week is not paid off by the performance shown.

According to him, the supporters hoped that the team would struggle, but this was not visible. He considered this attitude unacceptable at the current level of competition.

Vicario emphasized that the night was a harsh defeat for the entire squad. He added that they must remain united to rise.

He said that Tottenham had a big match in midweek. Because of this, he considered it important for the team to restore focus and maintain togetherness.

The Italian goalkeeper also considered that the team did not show its true abilities. He assessed that the emotional atmosphere was high, but he asked his colleagues to maintain calm.

Vicario added that the fans present at the stadium deserved an apology. He considered the team to be late in entering the match. He explained that Tottenham’s game was too passive. The plan they prepared beforehand also didn’t work as it should.

Vicario said that the lack of resistance was the biggest factor in the defeat. He believes that an apology to supporters should be the first step to improve oneself.

Tottenham is now shifting focus to the match against Paris Saint-Germain in European competition. After that, they will prepare to face Fulham in the Premier League.

The defeat to Arsenal also ensured that Tottenham did not taste league victory for almost a month. Their last victory was recorded when they beat Everton 3-0 at the end of last October.
