Last Week’s Premier League Results: Arsenal Party, Spurs Remain, Liverpool to UCL, West Ham Dropped from Caste
Gilabola.com – The 2025/2026 Premier League season closed with chaos at the bottom and a big party at the top. Arsenal solidified their title celebration with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, while Tottenham Hotspur escaped the threat of relegation in the final seconds of the season.
The most bitter came from East London. West Ham United won 3-0 over Leeds United, but this big victory was still not enough to save them from relegation and having to go down from the top tier.
Arsenal came to Selhurst Park with little pressure because their position was actually very safe. But Mikel Arteta’s team still closed the season with a win. The three points made the Gunners finish at the top of the standings with 85 points.
Manchester City had to be willing to end the season in second place after losing 1-2 to Aston Villa at home. This result also brought Villa to finish in the top four.
Liverpool also smiled on the last day. A 1-1 draw against Brentford was enough for them to finish in fifth position and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Not many predicted that Sunderland would penetrate European competition. But a 2-1 win over Chelsea changed everything. The promoted club closed the season in seventh position with 54 points and has the right to appear in Europe next season.
Chelsea actually collapsed in the deciding week. The defeat to Sunderland saw them finish in 10th position.
The biggest drama came at the bottom of the table.
Tottenham, which has been a mess all season, finally survived after a narrow 1-0 win over Everton. An additional three points brought Spurs to finish in 17th position with 41 points, just two points above the red zone.
West Ham became the most painful victim. They won convincingly over Leeds, but still dropped to the Championship because they lost on points to Tottenham.
Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers actually also failed to win in the last week. But their fate had been almost certain several weeks earlier.
Manchester United closed the season with a landslide 3-0 win at Brighton headquarters. Meanwhile, Newcastle fell 0-2 to Fulham.
