Manchester City Opens Option to Release Jack Grealish, The Toffees Benefit from New Scheme

Everton Gets a Chance to Keep Jack Grealish After an Open Signal from Manchester City

Everton are now in an advantageous position regarding the future Jack Grealish after Manchester City reportedly open to releasing the player again on loan. This situation arose after talks between the two clubs, amidst the uncertainty of Grealish’s career at the Etihad.

Grealish joined Everton on loan at the start of the 2025/2026 season after no longer being the first choice under Pep Guardiola. Since arriving on Merseyside, the English winger immediately made a real impact before injury hampered his progress.

His season with The Toffees practically ended prematurely after he suffered a fracture due to pressure in his foot. The injury forced him to undergo surgery and will result in him being sidelined for a long period of time. Everton will most likely not be able to rely on him again until the end of this season.

However, Grealish’s contribution was still felt. He recorded the most goals and assists than any other Everton player in the Premier League this season.

Manchester City Open to All Transfer Options

A report from Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke said Manchester City was ready to consider everything transfer option regarding Grealish’s future, including releasing him again as a loan player.

According to O’Rourke, Grealish has no long-term prospects at Manchester City. The champion club is said to be willing to discuss permanent and loan schemes to facilitate the player’s move.

In the current loan contract there is a purchase option worth 50 million pounds sterling, or around IDR 1 trillion. However, this value is considered too high for Everton, especially considering the player’s age and other financial aspects.

Therefore, the two clubs are scheduled to hold talks again to determine their next steps.

Loan Schemes Are the Most Realistic Solution

For Everton, the re-loan option is considered the most reasonable scenario. The club does not need to spend large amounts of money on a permanent transfer, while still being able to take advantage of Grealish’s qualities which have been proven to make a significant contribution.

Apart from that, it is known that Grealish’s contract will expire next summer. If he returns for another season on loan on Merseyside and continues to enjoy his role in the team, Everton could be in a stronger position to sign him on a free after his contract expires.

The scheme of two seasons on loan before then securing it without a transfer fee is an ideal picture for Everton. With Manchester City’s open attitude, this opportunity is now not just talk.
