Manchester United must upgrade Manuel Ugarte before bringing Benjamin Sesko

Gilabola.com – Manchester United are still hunting new strikers, under the name Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig is called the main target of Ruben Amorim in the transfer market this summer.

But the last trial match against Everton which ended in a 2-2 draw in Atlanta raised doubts. For many observers, not the front lines that should be the main focus, but the heart of the game in midfield.

In that match, Manchester United actually showed a promising technical quality. Bryan Mbeumo made his debut, performing with Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, and Kobbie Mainoo.

Their ball movement looks liquid, especially when charging attacks on the final third area of the field. But there is one problem that is clearly visible: Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte problems and the impact on United’s game

Ugarte, which was brought in a price of Rp 1.1 trillion from Paris Saint-Germain last season, seemed to have difficulty following the tempo of the game that Amorim wanted.

In a few moments, he lost the ball under the pressure of the opponent and that error led to Everton’s equalizing goal in the first round.

Supporters who were initially optimistic after Ugarte’s appearance in the match against West Ham United, again made criticism similar to last season.

Ruben Amorim himself reportedly wanted an aggressive playing style with high intensity. But that style is difficult to realize if there are players who are unable to compensate for the rhythm.

A number of football analysts considered that United could have built the most explosive attacks, but all of that would be useless if the midfield lost synchronization and often made mistakes.

Transfer priority that must be changed

United now face a dilemma. To bring in Sesko, the club is estimated to have to prepare funds of more than Rp 1.5 trillion in order to beat competitors such as Newcastle United.

But, if that much fund spends space for additional other players, Amorim must re -weigh. Many believe that the big expenditure for strikers will be in vain if the midfield remains fragile.

Bruno Fernandes, who often plays more advanced, seems to be again pulled deeper when Mbeumo is really ready. This makes the need for midfielders with solid defensive responsibilities increasingly urgent. So far, Ugarte has not shown that he was able to carry out the task.

Ineos, as the new owner, may indeed be reluctant to admit mistakes after spending Rp 1.1 trillion to bring in Ugarte only a year ago. But they are also known to not hesitate to make difficult decisions to prevent mistakes widening.

If the midfield problem is not resolved immediately, Amorim’s large project at Old Trafford can be stalled before he could develop, and the attractive football dreamed of supporters will be difficult to realize.
