Real Madrid Lost Kylian Mbappe for Almost a Month Due to Injury
Real Madrid will certainly be without its mainstay star, Kylian Mbappe, for three weeks, due to injury.
Team reveal important reports that Kylian Mbappe has a knee injury and will be out for three weeks.
The French international striker has been suffering from a problem affecting the lateral ligament in one of his knees for several weeks. An MRI carried out on Wednesday local time, December 31 2025, revealed a problem that made Mbappe need treatment and rest.
Because of this, he will be absent for at least the next three weeks. This happened after Mbappe played in almost every match that Madrid played since the start of this season.
Of course, this situation is a big blow for coach Xabi Alonso, considering that Mbappe has been the best player for his team so far this season – which Madrid has been largely inconsistent with so far.
Match Ronaldo’s record
Mbappe is even recorded as being responsible for more than half of the goals scored by Real Madrid in all competitions this season.
After being in unstoppable form, Mbappe ended 2025 by equaling Cristiano Ronaldo’s number of goals in the category of most goals in a calendar year for Real Madrid, with 59 goals.
With the Spanish Super Cup just around the corner, Madrid hopes the 27-year-old striker can continue the same form.
However, with a specified three-week recovery period, it is certain that he will miss the Spanish Super Cup match, after the upcoming La Liga match against Real Betis. Meanwhile, Mbappe’s involvement in the next matches in the league and Copa del Rey is still uncertain.
Mbappe is confident he can play in the Super Cup
Now, Madrid has officially issued a statement confirming that Mbappe is indeed injured.
“After examinations carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappe by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with a sprain in his left knee. His recovery will be monitored,” read Real Madrid’s official statement.
Real Madrid also confirmed that during his three-week absence, Mbappe could potentially not play in more than four matches, including the Spanish Super Cup.
However, it was revealed by journalists ASRuben Martin, Mbappe has targeted that he will return in time to play in the Spanish Super Cup which will be held in Saudi Arabia – in the next week or so.
Another source in Spain also stated that for now Mbappe will only miss this weekend’s match against Real Betis. He is already targeting a comeback for the Super Cup, although at the moment it seems difficult.
With Real Madrid having loaned Endrick, of course Mbappe’s injury causes big concerns for the coach, Xabi Alonso.
