Why Choose Eurostar Trains from London to Paris?
For many people, Eurostar is the ideal choice for travel between London and Paris. Unlike flights, this train journey lets you skip long airport security queues and tedious waiting times.
The Eurostar station, London St Pancras International, is conveniently located in central London, making it much more accessible than airports such as Heathrow or Gatwick. After a short journey of two hours and fifteen minutes, you will arrive at Gare du Nord, located near popular Paris attractions and just steps from the city’s bustling streets.
Two look at both stations, you can watch my video about choosing Eurostar over flying to Paris.
Once you arrive, your Paris adventure can begin immediately. Border controls are completed before you board in London, so you can disembark in Paris and head straight to your first destination without having to wait any longer.
And with your luggage always by your side, you don’t have to stand around baggage claim. These features make Eurostar my recommended mode of transportation between London and Paris.
Think how nice it would be to get off the train and immediately find out what was happening!

Benefits of Taking the Eurostar Train from London to Paris
One of Eurostar’s main advantages is its punctuality, with most trains running on time. This reliability makes it a reliable choice for those with busy schedules. Security checks are simpler and quicker than at the airport, ensuring a smoother start to your trip.
Plus, there are no long journey times to the station: centrally located in London, St Pancras is easy to reach by Underground, bus or even on foot from many areas. And if you want a really lovely hotel recommendation that couldn’t get you any closer to the station, you’ll want to stay at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London.

Upon arrival in Paris, you’ll find yourself at the Gare du Nord, which is closer to the city’s landmarks than Charles de Gaulle Airport, which is located 26 kilometers outside. This prime location allows you to step directly into the cultural heart of Paris without having to make additional trips from distant airports.
Another advantage of using Eurostar is that your luggage stays with you throughout the journey. No need to wait at baggage claim, or risk losing your belongings.
The overhead compartment may be small, but you’ll find additional storage space at the end of each carriage. Having your bag close by also reduces stress, especially if you’re carrying valuable or important items.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the trip, so you can stay connected, work or simply enjoy online entertainment. Bring your charging cable and make sure you have a UK and EU plug adapter to power your device.
Eurostar is also very quiet, with fewer requests from passengers to swap seats, ensuring low travel stress levels.

Disadvantages of Eurostar Travel
Although Eurostar offers many conveniences, there are some drawbacks to consider. Chief among these is the cost: Eurostar tickets can be much more expensive than flights if booked late or at the last minute.
To avoid these expensive rates, try to book as early as possible; prices generally increase closer to the travel date. While the Eurostar is expensive, the overall convenience and time savings make it well worth the price, especially when you factor in travel time and costs to and from the airport in each city.
In some cases, Eurostar may have limited availability during busy periods, so it’s best to plan in advance, especially during holidays and weekends. Although trains tend to be on time, delays can still occur, so leave some time off if you’re continuing on to another itinerary.

Important Tips for Eurostar Travelers taking the Train from London to Paris
To ensure a smooth Eurostar journey, consider these helpful tips:
1. Plan Your Luggage Needs: Eurostar has overhead compartments, but space may be limited. Choose a seat near the larger luggage racks at the end of each carriage if you have larger bags. This way, you will have quicker access to your belongings when boarding and alighting.
2. Book Early for the Best Prices: Eurostar tickets can be expensive, especially closer to the travel date. Booking well in advance helps get lower rates. If you’re flexible, consider traveling midweek for potentially better prices.
3. Arrive Early: Although Eurostar security is generally quicker than airport screening, it is still wise to arrive at least 45 minutes to 1 hour before departure. This extra time is especially useful during peak travel periods when queues can be longer.
4. Bring an Adapter: Eurostar offers power outlets at every seat, but remember to pack UK and EU plug adapters. This way, you’ll be ready to charge your devices, especially if you plan to work or stream content while traveling.
5. Choose a Window Seat for Beautiful Views: Even though part of the journey is through the Channel Tunnel, the views of the French countryside are beautiful. Leaving London, not so much!
Booking a window seat allows you to enjoy the passing views, which is a unique experience compared to flying.
