Manchester United and The Blues Compactly Deny Ever Approaching Jurgen Klopp

Manchester United denied the news that they had approached Jurgen Klopp after the German coach left Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season. Chelsea also gave a similar response by denying that he had ever contacted Klopp regarding the manager’s position.

Klopp, 58 years old, has not been on the coaching bench since parting ways with Liverpool. He currently serves as global head of football for the Red Bull Group, a company that owns a number of clubs in various countries, including RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Even though he has moved to a managerial role at corporate level, issues regarding Klopp’s possible return to the field continue to emerge.

Klopp’s Agent Statement

The latest speculation emerged after Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, spoke to Transfermarkt. He said his client had not ruled out the opportunity to return to training someday.

“Maybe at some point he will miss the dressing room atmosphere again,” said Kosicke.

However, he emphasized that currently Klopp is very happy with his job at Red Bull. Even before accepting the position, according to Kosicke, Klopp had the option of managing the United States or England national team. The opportunity to coach Germany is also open if that position is not previously occupied by Julian Nagelsmann.

Kosicke also claimed that Manchester United and Chelsea were among the clubs who had asked about Klopp’s availability after he left Anfield.

“Including Chelsea and Manchester United who have made approaches, even though Jurgen has clearly stated that he will not coach another English club,” said Kosicke.

He added that offers continue to come in, but Klopp is satisfied with his achievements so far. Kosicke also mentioned the fact that Klopp is known as one of the coaches who has only managed three clubs in his career without ever being fired.

Rebuttal from Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge

However, the Sky Sports News report stated that Manchester United denied ever making an approach to Klopp.

Chelsea also expressed the same attitude. The London club emphasized that they had never had contact with Klopp regarding their manager’s position.

Apart from the two English clubs, Real Madrid was also linked with the former Borussia Dortmund coach, following uncertainty over whether Alvaro Arbeloa was projected as a long-term solution. However, last month Klopp suppressed this speculation and played down the possibility of taking over as coach at the European champion club.

For now, Klopp is still behind the scenes as a football executive. Rumors about his return to the sidelines may continue to emerge, but both Manchester United and Chelsea have closed the door on speculation that has developed in recent days.
